Exceed Triathlon is about training and racing triathlon. It's that simple. It is about getting to the start line ready to go, prepared and relaxed knowing that the training has been done in a structured program suitable to you.

It is about training and racing without being injured or overtrained.

Triathlon is not an easy sport. It was never meant to be! Modern day triathlon was basically born out of a bet about who was the fittest and strongest from the three disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. From sprint racing to Ironman, triathlon is a physically demanding sport. So that is how we train - to make sure you are fit and strong, not exhausted halfway through the event.

So how do we do that? Well, Ross has been racing and training for triathlons for 20 years and while he started off before tri bars were the norm, that's not what makes him qualified. What does is his quest for knowledge regarding what works and what doesn't. Over the last 20 years he has been trying, training, reading, watching and listening to so many different types of training that what is most obvious is there is not one type of training that is suitable for everyone.

Some people need to train less, some more, some need gym, some need stretching, others do not. Some do not have much time, some have too much! Some people can run fast but do not swim well and vice versa, the combinations of strengths and weaknesses are endless so the different types of training need to be endless.

All athletes can make improvements. regardless of age or perceived ability
Quality of training is more important than quantity.
Rest is just as important as training
All training programs should create a balanced lifestyle.
Eliminate junk mileage; follow a program of “deliberate practice”.
Athletes are encouraged to stay healthy & injury free.
Remember that triathlon is part of your life not your whole life.
Have fun.
